Sumatra is an archipelago made up of over 17,500 islands in Western Indonesia, with a majority of its inhabitants being spread over a network of remote shoreline communities.

Its location on a tectonic plate makes it one of the most vulnerable places on the planet to climate hazards and natural disasters, this vulnerability to the environment also makes it one of the most remote surf-rich regions on the planet.

Indonesia is seeing a period of rapid development which is reshaping the current generation. This project looks at these everyday communities and how they are adapting.
